Geo articles and programmatic pages

Build city-and-service pages at scale without publishing near-duplicate content.

Geo articles generate location-specific pages from a keyword plus a city and state, using real local context: nearby cities, service areas, locations on file and the client's own service descriptions.

The screen has three panels in the left rail: Create (build a page or a batch), Pages (everything built, with a count), and Site Style (the shared look the pages are published with). Page settings are grouped further into Pages, Domain and Settings, where the custom domain the pages are served from is configured.

Building a geo page

  1. 1

    Choose the service keyword

For example "water heater installation", usually pulled from a cluster already flagged as local intent in Keywords.ai.

  2. 2

    Choose the city and state

Pick from the client's configured service areas rather than typing a city freehand, so the page only gets built for places actually served.

  3. 3

    Generate

The draft pulls in the client's real service description, nearby landmarks or neighbourhoods, and any location record on file for that city.

  4. 4

    Review for genuine local detail

Confirm the page reads as written for that city, not a template with the name swapped in, before approving.

  5. 5

    Publish

Publishes to the same blog address as articles, the client's subdomain, their own site path, or WordPress when it is connected.

Programmatic pages

Programmatic pages take the same idea further, producing a set of pages from a template and a data source, services by city, products by category, locations by region. Pages are built from editable blocks, so you can adjust a single element on one page or across the whole set, and each page gets its own metadata, schema and sitemap entry.

Worked example: a template combining 4 services × 12 cities produces 48 pages. Rather than generate all 48 at once, build one service across 3-4 cities first, check the SEO score and read-through quality on each, then expand the remaining services once the template is proven.

Avoiding thin duplicates

  • Give each page genuinely local material: service-area detail, local landmarks or neighbourhoods, and real reviews from that area.
  • Vary structure, not just the city name, spun paragraphs read as spam to both readers and search engines.
  • Only build pages for places the client actually serves.
  • Link geo pages from the relevant service page and from each other where it helps a reader.

Scale carefully

Hundreds of near-identical city pages is the fastest way to lose trust in a local niche. Publish a strong set, measure with rank tracking and the local grid, then expand.

Common problems

SymptomWhat to check
Geo pages not appearing in the map packConfirm the location actually has a Business Profile listing or clear service-area coverage; a geo page alone rarely outranks a strong nearby competitor with an established profile.
Pages read as duplicates of each otherAdd city-specific facts (landmarks, service-area notes, local reviews) rather than relying on the template to differentiate them.
Google is not indexing the new geo pagesCheck the sitemap includes them and submit the batch through Indexing, see Offsite SEO → Indexing.
